Last blog we posted a picture of this bell:
Here's the story...
This is a Vanduzen and Tift bell made at the Buckeye Foundry in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is believed to be made sometime around 1866. After production, this bell spent most of its days in Northeast Louisiana on a farm that our family used to own called Buck Meadow. Back in the day it was the primary means of communication in the farming community and was used as a signal for almost everything involved in day to day life on the farm. Different rings were used to indicate morning, noon, and night fall, as well as calling meeting, emergenices and many other things. The bell now resides at Presqu'ile Vineyard in California. We haven’t decided where to put it yet, but it’s a pretty cool piece of history and I'm sure we will find the perfect home for it. Any ideas?

Construction at the new winery in Santa Maria is speeding along and we are thrilled to welcome the public to our new home beginning June 20th, 2013. We will be throwing a house warming party on June 15th, 2013 for friends, family and wine club members only. Special guests Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave will be helping us break the new spot in with a performance in our amphitheater. Give us a holler to find out how you can snag tickets to this event! The horseshoe pit and bocce ball court are going in next to the amphitheater and the smack talk has already begun. We are all warming up our throwing arms and looking forward a little friendly competition! Be sure to check back for updates on events and the opening of our estate winery in Santa Maria!

The 3rd annual Chardonnay Symposium is coming up this weekend and we are excited to be a part of it again this year! It is a great event that allows you to explore Chardonnay from the vine to the glass. The weekend is full of great events and we hope you can make it out to join us and share the love for one of the most beloved white grapes in the world!
Kick off the weekend with a "bring your own Chardonnay" BBQ at Sierra Madre Vineyard on Friday followed by an educational panel on Saturday morning. Wine Enthusiast's Steve Heimoff will moderate the panel and our very own Dieter Cronje will be sitting on the panel along with 7 other great winemakers from the area. Check out this video clip from last year's panel.
The Grand Tasting will begin at noon on Saturday at Byron Winery's beautiful estate in Santa Maria. You won't want to miss out on a chance to hang out and enjoy the scenery and taste lots of wonderful Chardonnay and fabulous food from local vendors! For more information on the weekends events and for ticket information click here.
Here is a recent article from Wines & Vines to jump start the weekend and get you amped to celebrate Chardonnay! Wines & Vines: Do Chardonnay Wines Show More Terroir
If you can't make it to the Chardonnay Symposium this year we would love to see you in our Los Olivos tasting room, or at some of our upcoming events this summer and fall. Please visit our website for more information or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hey Presqu'ile Fans!
It has been a while since I’ve reported on the happenings at the tasting room/vineyard and quite a bit has gone down since you last heard from me!
May was a great month for us. We celebrated our second annual May Fais! pick up party with the release of our 2011 Sauvignon Blanc (yes, it is back and available for purchase!), 2011 Rosé, 2010 Chardonnay and 2010 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir. The party was held in our Los Olivos tasting room and we were thrilled to welcome a packed house once again. Bell Street Farm did a fabulous job with the food pairings and there was barely anything left by the end of the night. Check out what they prepared for us and be sure to stop by Los Alamos and see them! While your down that way stop into our Los Olivos tasting room to try out our new releases.
As many of you may already know, Full of Life Flatbread has opened for Thursday night dinner! We are super stoked to have another night to feed our Flatbread addictions and on May 17th we were honored to kick off their new hours with a Presqu’ile Winemaker dinner. Chef Brian Collins came up with a ridiculously amazing menu that paired beautifully with our wines.
Construction at the new winery and tasting room is speeding along. Walls and a roof have gone up and we will be celebrating the next May Fais! there before you know it!
Thanks to our good friend Tim Rogers for the construction photos! He's an avid fisherman and Presqu'ile supporter. Oh yeah, and he kinda helped build everything too. We love you.
We would also like to send a big congratulations out to Jonathan and Lindsey who tied the knot this past weekend! The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a freakin blast! Cheers to the newlyweds!
Below you can find a list of some of our upcoming events. Visit our website for more details!
Hope to see you at some of these events! Please feel free to contact us at email@example.com with any questions.

We celebrated the opening of our Los Olivos tasting room on Leap Day with super delicious bacon inspired small bites from the Nicholas Brothers Restaurant. The food, which included bacon wrapped figs, pork sliders, bacon wrapped shrimp, and cupcakes with maple bacon icing was of course a hit. Who doesn’t love lots of bacon?! We were more than pleased to welcome a packed house for the occasion and the proceeds from that night went to support the Los Olivos School Foundation. Come down to check out the sweet new space and stay for a tasting! You should also pay a visit to our neighbors Byron, Fontes and Phillips, and Coghlan Vineyard and Jewelers while your at it. Visit our website for directions to the tasting room.
Matt and Dieter just came back from the 3rd Annual Edible School Yard event in New Orleans this past weekend. Presqu'ile was the official wine of the night again this year and even though the weather was a little stormy it was still a good time! Check out www.esynola.org for more information on the Edible Schoolyard program. Photo credit goes to Maile Lani Photography.
Our next big event is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland, OH on April 13th. We are stoked to be the exclusive wine of the evening and to share our wines with hundreds of rock and roll fans! The line up of inductees is pretty awesome again this year! It ranges from Guns and Roses to The Beastie Boys. The event is sold out already, but for a full list of this year’s inductees and other viewing options please visit www.rockhall.com. Be sure to check back with us in a couple weeks for a special rock and roll blog entry!
March was choked full of wonderful wine dinners. The Ballard Inn hosted a super delicious dinner featuring Ernst Storm of Storm Wines and we celebrated St. Patrick's Day at Full of Life Flatbread with Gavin Chanin of Chanin Wine Company. Check out the menus from the dinners and join us next time!
Here are a few pics of how the construction is going at the winery on Clark Ave! Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on the building progress.
Hey Everyone! Here is a quick update on what has been happening with the Presqu’ile staff, winery and tasting room.
Amanda, Lindsey and I recently spent a few days in Napa taking a tasting room professionals course through the WISE academy. We learned a lot about how to create a memorable and enjoyable guest experience as well as all the technical things you need to know to run a successful tasting room business. After two full days of class and lots of practice I’d say we are ready to open a tasting room! Which is a good thing since we are planning on opening in Los Olivos on Thursday March 1st. Even though we haven’t officially opened we have had a few private tastings in the space and everyone had a great time!
Matt and Amanda were recently in LA at a Grammy luncheon which honored Grammy Nominees from Louisiana. Each Louisiana nominee received a bottle of Presqu’ile in their gift bags which we thought was pretty cool! Matt and Amanda also ran into our friend from New Orleans Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews. He preformed at the El Dorado Wine Dinner last year and has been a friend of the family for years. He and his band Orleans Avenue are very talented! Be sure to check out their site as well as their newest album “For True”.
Jonathan and Dieter spent this past Thursday and Friday bottling and we are excited to get our 2010 releases out. It’s going to be another great year for Presqu’ile! Maybe even our best vintage yet! Be sure to check out our website for updates on when they will be released.
Stay tuned for updates on the Los Olivos tasting room progress as well as the Santa Maria winery. For directions to the tasting room click here. Come see us in Los Olivos soon!
